The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is seeking a Laboratory Manager to manage the operations and activities of the Computer Aided Design laboratories. The candidate would be responsible for providing efficient management, technical and administrative support for all laboratory teachings and research activities and to oversee the safety standards in the laboratory in compliance to ISO 45001 standard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage and oversee the operation of the Computer Aided Engineering laboratories and Biological Machine Lab in supporting the teaching and research activities.
- Manage and allocate manpower resources within the laboratories to meet operational needs.
- Budgetary planning for the laboratories and ensure procurement operations comply with the University’s financial policies, guidelines, and procedures.
- Laboratory asset management and maintaining proper records for inventory auditing.
- Provide teaching supports to laboratory experiments and projects.
- Manage and maintain the Windows servers, engineering software application licenses and network systems.
- Conduct safety risk assessment for all equipment and processes.
Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical/ Mechatronics/ Manufacturing Engineering.
- At least 10 years of experience in Product Design work, Computer Aided Design/ Computer Aided Manufacturing and Engineering software.
- Knowledge in Windows Server operating system.
- Good knowledge and skill in Computer Aided Design and Engineering software such as SolidWorks, SolidCAM, Ansys and Autodesk Fusion.
- Knowledge and skill in troubleshooting and resolving computer hardware and software issues.
- Knowledge of lathe and milling machining and basic knowledge of CNC machine codes.
- Experience in Tools Engineering and Design.
- Knowledge of workplace safety including ISO45001.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience in leading a group of technical staff.
