We are looking for a full-time pre-doctoral student to work as a Research Associate on INSEAD’s Asia campus. This position is ideal for recent Master’s graduates looking to develop their research skills, with a view of applying to a PhD program. We are looking for someone who is good at managing data and in particular using software packages such as Stata, Python, and R. Ideally, they would also have experience working on a research project in the social sciences. The Research Associate (RA) core mission is to assist the school’s faculty in conducting research.
The position is for one year, with the possibility of renewal at the end of the first year upon evaluation. It is a full-time position.
We are particularly interested in candidates that possess a strong technical background, with demonstrated expertise in handling data and knowledge in at least some of the following disciplines: econometrics, statistics, machine learning/AI, mathematical optimization, operations research.
The successful candidates will be involved in various research projects and support our Faculty in Economics & Political Science (EPS), Accounting (ACC), Decision Sciences (DSC), Entrepreneurship and Family Enterprise (EFE), Finance (FIN), Marketing (MKT), Organisational Behaviour (OB), Strategy (STR), and Technology & Operations Management (TOM).
The RA will have the opportunity to interact with the pre-doctoral candidates/research staff from other areas, attend a number of workshops/seminars and work in multiple areas.
TASKS:
· Assist with quantitative research projects
· Data management and programming using software packages such as Stata, SAS, R, and Python.
· Conduct statistical data analysis and assist with the interpretation, write-up, and dissemination of findings.
· Conduct academic literature search and review.
· Design and conduct experiments
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
· Clear ambition to pursue a PhD in the future.
· You are finishing Bachelor/Master studies’ or freshly graduated from a top school.
· Evidence of outstanding academic achievements, strong quantitative or qualitative background is essential. Research work samples are a plus.
· You are proficient in using research tools & packages such as R, Python, Matlab, SAS, Stata, SPSS, etc. and in econometrics, interviewing and text analysis survey construction and qualitative methodologies.
· You can work independently, manage timelines and delivery expectations from Faculty.
· Exercise independent decision making with regards to the progression of research projects and methodologies.
· Excellent academic record and work ethic are required.
· Previous research experience and knowledge of econometrics are strong pluses
· Excellent communication and writing skills in the English language
