Responsibilities:
- Provide managerial leadership to the Anatomic Pathology and Histology (APH) team and oversee day-to-day operations and on-time delivery of histology testing services
- Manages day to day delivery of testing services while implementing operational improvements to increase client satisfaction, quality performance and operational efficiency
- Effectively manage change, facilitate innovation and foster teambuilding to provide the highest quality and most cost-effective laboratory product possible.
- Resolves client inquiries and operational issues in a timely manner by consulting with the Medical Director, Technical Director, QA, pathologists, other laboratory managers, laboratory directors or corporate operations.
- Conduct departmental meetings and ensures appropriate departmental communication.
- Participates in and supports client visits, audits and inquires to ensure complete fulfillment of requests and interests.
- Investigate deviations from established procedures to ensure effective corrective action.
- Ensure personnel competency and address performance related issues as necessary.
- Provides support to the functional directors and assists in the fulfillment of his/her responsibilities.
- Ensure an adequate level of trained personnel to meet the testing and administrative requirements of the department.
- Manages and monitors quality and timely delivery of both production and non-production activities.
- Ensures regulatory compliance and assists director in the establishment of globally consistent production standards
Requirements:
- Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology or other Life Science.
- Minimum 10 years of laboratory experience plus 8 years supervisory or management experience in a clinical laboratory environment.
- Prior supervisor experience managing several direct reports preferred.
- Experience in a high-volume working environment.
- Knowledge and experience with molecular histology and techniques, including immunohistochemistry, FISH, histology sample preparation and processing (i.e. sectioning, staining)
- Knowledge of quality assurance practices and procedures.
- Strong knowledge of CAP, ISO15189 accreditation and HCSA regulations.
- Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
- Proven ability to problem solving/troubleshooting and provide solutions under minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills; both written and verbal.
- High level of attention to detail with strong organization skills.
- Comfortable making decisions in a changing environment.
