The Institute for Digital Molecular Analytics and Science (IDMxS) invites applications for the position of Research Fellow.
IDMxS is a new, unique interdisciplinary Research Centre of Excellence (RCE), funded by Ministry of Education (Singapore), Nanyang Technological University and National University of Singapore. Hosted by NTU in partnership with NUS, IDMxS is the world’s first organized effort focused on interfacing the biological and living world with the world of information technology and data science whilst providing fundamental scientific development, grounded in materials science, optics, and interfacial chemistry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop bespoke image processing protocols for analysis of optical microscopy images, including, but not limited to, denoising, deblurring and object recognition.
- Develop computational imaging algorithms for complex imaging systems, including, but not limited to, micro-lens arrays, compressed sensing, sparse imaging speckle based spectrometers and interferometric imaging. Tasks will, for instance include image stitching, demosaicing, spectrum reconstruction, nonlinear non-convex optimization, background removal, phase retrieval etc.
- Contribute to design and optimization of optical systems.
As part of the role, the Research Fellow will also be expected to:
- Perform literature reviews and stay up to date on developments in the field.
- Disseminate results through publication in top-tier journals and conference presentations.
- Contribute to research administration as required.
- Supervise PhD and undergraduate student projects as required.
Job Requirements:
- PhD Degree in Computer Science/Physics/Engineering or related disciplines.
- Programming Experience: Proficient knowledge of Python, MATLAB or C.
- Excellent knowledge in computational imaging and image processing algorithms.
- Familiarity with optical terminology and an optics background is preferred.
- Good writing and communication skills.
- Able to work well in a team and individually.
