Job description
This role resides in the Group Sustainability division. You will be involved in several workstreams, but the main role is to support environmental and social risk assessments for projects, including the sustainable finance and human rights work streams. This role will require you to work in close partnership with several internal teams and external stakeholders / consultants.
Responsibilities include:
- Environmental and social risk management:
- Conduct environmental and social risk assessment for projects
- Review ESIA / ESDDs and ESMPs and advice project teams on follow-up mitigation actions to manage environmental and social risks
- Support annual ESMP internal compliance checks
- Sustainable finance:
- Update and support the pre-issuance assurance processes for Sembcorp’s Green Financing Framework and Sustainability-linked Financing Framework in line with the Climate Bond Standards and taxonomy and Sustainability-linked Bond / Loan Principles respectively
- Work closely with the Treasury team to support new green bond / loan and sustainability-linked loan issuances
- Support the development of annual Green Finance Report and Sustainable Finance Annual Updates
- Support the annual post-issuance assurance for green bonds / loans and sustainability-linked bonds / loans
- Human rights: Monitor and enhance Sembcorp’s human rights due diligence processes against industry practice
- Sustainability reporting: Support the preparation of Sembcorp’s annual Sustainability Report and other climate-related disclosures such as CDP, TCFD etc.
Requirements:
- University Degree, preferably with areas related to sustainability such as Environmental Management or Environmental Engineering. Accountancy and Finance graduates will also be considered.
- Minimum of 3 years’ of experience in the sustainability field in particular, experience in environmental and social risk management for infrastructure projects and sustainable finance
- Experience and / or working knowledge with the following:
- Environmental and social risk management: IFC Performance Standards and Equator Principles
- Sustainable finance: Green Bond / Loan Principles, Sustainability-linked Bond / Loan Principles, Climate Bond Initiative Standards and taxonomy
- Human rights: UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights and ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work
- Reporting standards: GRI, ISSB Standards, TCFD and CDP
- Sustainability audit procedures
- Other general requirements: strong project management and stakeholder management skills, strong analytical skills, good writing and presentation skills
