Business Need / Purpose of Role:


We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Legal Counsel to join our team for an offshore project. As a Legal Counsel, you will play a vital role in providing legal guidance and support to ensure compliance, mitigate risks, and protect the company's interests throughout the project.


Responsibilities:

  1. Contract Review and Negotiation: Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including project agreements, vendor contracts, service agreements, and subcontractor agreements. Ensure compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
  2. Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify, assess, and manage legal risks associated with the offshore project. Provide proactive advice and develop strategies to mitigate potential legal issues, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  3. Compliance Monitoring: Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, permits, and licenses applicable to the offshore project. Develop and implement compliance programs and policies, conducting regular audits to identify and address any compliance gaps.
  4. Dispute Resolution: Handle disputes and assist in resolving legal issues that may arise during the offshore project. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external counsel, and relevant parties to negotiate settlements or initiate legal proceedings, if necessary.
  5. Legal Research and Advice: Stay updated on legal developments, industry trends, and best practices related to offshore projects. Conduct legal research, provide timely and accurate legal advice, and offer guidance on complex legal matters to project team members and senior management.
  6. Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, engineers, finance, and procurement, to ensure a comprehensive understanding of project requirements, objectives, and potential legal implications.
  7. Contract Management: Establish and maintain effective contract management processes and systems, including contract templates and standard clauses. Monitor contract performance, identify contract variations, and provide guidance on contract interpretation and amendments.

Requirements:

  • Law degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law and in good standing in the relevant jurisdiction(s).
  • Demonstrated experience as a legal counsel, preferably in the offshore project or energy industry.
  • Strong knowledge of contract law, commercial transactions, and relevant laws and regulations.
  • Excellent understanding of risk management principles and legal compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
