Experience / Skills:
- Degree in Mechnical Engineering (or equivalent qualification) or have a proven track record in the delivery of design projects.
- Minimum 8-10 years of working experience, preferably in consulting environment, with minimum 3 years of working experience in detailed design, design with contractor and onsite experience.
- Relevant experience in mechanical/electrical building services engineering design, including areas such as specification writing, calculations.
- Have knowledge and understanding of engineering practices, techniques and procedures and interfaces with design team and client needs.
- Make reference to regulations, industry standards and good practice in engineering design.
- A track record of having worked on a variety of Building Services designs covering for example, Infrastructure, Education, Healthcare and Commercial projects.
- Experience of seeing conceptual designs through to completion and dealing directly with clients.
- Able to contribute to the fee proposal and determine resources.
- Able to assess staff requirements at each work stage, agreeing these with the Project Manager and be able to manage single disciplinary and multi-disciplinary projects.
- Worked in infrastructure projects, e.g. railway projects will be an added advantage
- Experience in BIM (Revit) will be an added advantage.
- A member of a professional Institution or close to achieving professional engineer status.
Role Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the fee proposal and determine resources.
- Preparation of design report, calculation, drawings, specification, cost estimation and details/ schedules for projects.
- Conduct M&E services site survey
- Lead in the coordination with other disciplines in preparation of design deliveries
- Produce mechanical design from concept to detail design
- Assist Professional Engineer in liaison, preparation and follow up of Authority Submission.
- Work closely with Clients / Architects/ Structural Engineers / Quantity Surveyors, etc.
- Assist Project Manager in up-keeping the project ISO quality documentation and records.
- Prepare outline scheme report/technical content of the design information
- Input to pre-qualification and selection of contractors, respond to tender queries, comment and review tender returns.
- Conduct presentations / workshops on techanical matters.
- Attend tender/client interviews.
- Attend site inspection meetings.
- Ensure the project work complies with the Project Management Plan and Programme.
- Ensure quality, sound and efficient engineering design service being reflected in every project deliverable.
- Conduct design check/review with junior engineers on every project handled.
- Preparation of design report, calculation, drawings, specification, cost estimation and details/ schedules for projects.
- To work closely with junior engineers, provide necessary guidance, training and provide assistance on their technical / professional development at AECOM.
