- Attend discipline engineering meetings to become familiar with design, special issues, etc. and to provide construction input and information when necessary. Attend subcontractor weekly and special meetings as required to monitor status and identify critical issues that may require owner input.
- Assist in developing subcontract requisitions as needed.
- Understand the construction scheduling logic and critical path with focus on the piping work. Monitor subcontractor progress and help EPCM look ahead to future steps necessary to keep construction progress on schedule. Also monitor the progress of Vendor’s personnel and support in solving interface issues will be with the responsible parties.
- Identify critical work and make sure that team is informed of why the work is critical and when the work will be done. This could be technically critical work that must be witnessed (torque of bolted connections) or safety critical work (hazardous lift, work near energized equipment). This is done so that Evonik specific expertise can be brought to bear on the critical issues. Some of the work on the SIMEX project is taking place in a running plant, and these interfaces are critical. Managing or assisting in managing the interface between the project and the running plant will be a considerable portion of the incumbent’s work.
- Review Field Instructions (field changes for subcontractor) for accuracy and get appropriate approvals within Evonik.
- Review and monitor implementation of Piping Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), witness as needed hold points or critical steps. Check that test and acceptance documentation is in order. See that non-conforming deliveries and workmanship are documented and corrected.
- Support the safety program by participating in safety walks and other safety events. Develop and support alignment between EMSEA and SIMEX safety programs and emergency response plans. Set a good example by following all safety rules and recommendations.
