CNA News Presenter

CNA is looking for a Presenter for its live, daily newscasts. The incumbent will:

  • Present news in an informative, accurate, engaging, timely, and unbiased manner.
  • Adhere to the editorial guidelines set by regulators when writing, editing, and presenting scripts. Uphold and maintain standards that will satisfy Mediacorp and its international audience.
  • Support news programme production by presenting daily newscasts. This includes pre-reading to familarise with scripts and to gain a full understanding of the stories, editing typos, checking pronunciations of names and places, preparing and researching material for all/any ‘live’ dips and on-screen banter, and generally ensuring scripts are fit for purpose.
  • Handle ‘live’ crosses, studio interviews, and interviews via phone and other ‘live’ streaming facilities.
  • Write and produce news stories for various CNA programmes; potentially fill in as lead producer for news segments when familiar with technology and editorial practices.
  • Keep up-to-date on news, current affairs, and other assigned segments by monitoring wires and online sites, competitors, and audience feedback.
  • Build up and expand network by maintaining contact with newsmakers and analysts.
  • Pitch ideas for social media stories (e.g. TikTok) or other ideas for CNA Digital Growth team; script and record explainers or short videos for social media.

Requirements:

  • 5 to 10 years' experience working in TV news broadcasting, with a clear and demonstrated understanding of news across the Asian region.
  • A good university degree, preferably in Political Science, International Affairs or Economics.
  • Experience in conceptualising and producing news programmes.
  • Possessing clear diction and good voice is a must.
  • Be prepared to work irregular hours.
