Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Generate innovative ideas and initiative in new product design.
- Involved in the full product development cycle from conceptual design, component selection, part detail design, managing vendor tool fabrication, parts approval, and mass production.
- Define and share the Design for Manufacturing (DFM) in the process flow diagram with Critical to Quality on the parameters with tolerance control that meet the product manufacturing in simulation performance expectation.
- Build up capability in product design for servicing, installation, and maintenance within R&D and Customer Service (CS). Understand and document design requirements for servicing, maintenance, and installation together with the CS Team.
- To adapt mold making process from design drawings.
- Involved in product sustenance engineering and value engineering.
- Ensure product design meets mandatory and quality requirements, within targeted cost and project timeline.
- Liaise with vendors on parts, tools, or mold fabrication to ensure quality and timely delivery.
- Set up and perform Product Validation Tests to qualify products developed.
- Experience in assessing supplier capability will be an added advantage.
Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical / Mechatronic Engineering with at least 3 years related experience in designing for medium to large-scale production. Candidates with relevant knowledge and work experience will be considered for the Senior / Team Lead position
- Knowledge in injection molding, material, and component selection.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and technical aspects of ceramics is a plus.
- Experience in designing products using sheet metal and plastic parts.
- Experience in using 3D CAD such as SolidWorks or Pro-E (Creo) for product design is a must.
- Knowledge in FEA (Finite Element Analysis)/CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamic) in Altair simulation will be preferred.
- Analyse test & simulation data using experimental design and statistical methods, evaluate failure data to find root causes and implement sound engineering solutions.
