About the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT)

The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) in Singapore brings together physicists, computer scientists and engineers to do basic research on quantum physics and to build devices based on quantum phenomena. Experts in this new discipline of quantum technologies are applying their discoveries in computing, communications, and sensing.

CQT is hosted by the National University of Singapore. The Centre also has staff at the Agency for Science, Technology and Research, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and the Singapore University of Technology and Design. With some 200 staff and students, it offers a friendly and international work environment

Job Description

We have openings for talented scientists who are ready to take up a leadership role in our group and to spearhead new initiatives and provide guidance to junior members. You will be part of a well-funded initiative to create hybrid systems with superconducting circuits and rare-earth ions for quantum information processing. If your profile includes an inclination for nano-fabrication, you may be working on the following:

  • Leading the measurement of superconducting circuits in state-of-the-art systems;
  • Operating dilution refrigerators (Bluefors LD400); and large superconducting electro-magnets (up to 1 Tesla);
  • Mentoring graduate students;
  • Spearheading the development and fabrication of chips that combine superconducting circuits and rare-earth ions (including on-site lithography and metal deposition);
  • Exploring novel fabrication methods to couple rare-earth ions in solid-state with integrated optics and superconducting circuits;

Job Requirements

You will work closely with the PI to develop future experimental goals and shape the general research direction of the group. We aim to provide a challenging and supportive environment to perfect your research leadership skills and get ready for your next career step. You will be evolving in Singapore's highly fruitful Quantum Ecosystem that provides ample opportunities for funding and career prospects. Postdoc applicants should have proven research experience and have a strong interest in quantum technologies as well as:

  • PhD in Experimental Physics or Engineering;
  • PhD working on superconducting circuits, spin defects in solid-state, integrated optics or quantum optics experiments;
  • A good knowledge of quantum mechanics / quantum optics is required.

More Information

We are strongly committed to ensuring the wellbeing in our group . We provide good benefits, a good work-life balance, and have multiple trained peer-supporters.

For enquiries and details about the position, please contact Prof. Steven Touzard at [email protected].

Please include your consent by filling in the NUS Personal Data Consent for Job Applicants.

Applications should contain your latest CV and a description of your research interests.

About the Group

Qove Laboratory is led by Presidential Young Professor Steven Touzard and located at the National University of Singapore. The lab is funded by the prestigious NRF Fellowship. Our group works on a large range of quantum technologies, with currently an emphasis on remotely entangling superconducting qubits with telecom photons to form long-range quantum networks.
