Sustainability Research Specialist
Reporting to the Head of Systematic Research, the Sustainability Research Specialist represents the Sustainability Research team in the Singapore office to both monitor developments and support activities in the Asian market. Specifically, the Sustainability Specialist aims (a) to ensure that the Research team is able to embed insights on regional market developments into its work; (b) to disseminate the work of the Research team to local investment teams; and (c) supports the commercial development in the region with a specific focus on those clients with an interest in Sustainability.
YOUR ROLE
- Supports the Director of the Singapore Office and local staff in sales and marketing activities, outreach to clients.
- Represents Lombard Odier in events and collaborative working groups related to Sustainability. This requires the Specialist to maintain a broad, up-to-date and active knowledge of the firm’s positioning, latest research, and materials to allow the specialist to speak with conviction on a broad range of sustainability topics.
- Supports sustainability research teams, with a particular focus on systematic research team’s work given the TargetNetZero range is expected to gain local market appetite.
- Supports local investment teams, assessing needs and proactively suggesting areas of cooperation, facilitating teach-ins on roadmap research, systematic research, and alignment, facilitating introductions, access to relevant content, and other opportunities for collaboration.
- Work in close collaboration with the Sustainability Specialist (Fixed Income) – focused on labelled bonds and screening of fixed income portfolios managed by local teams – and teams involved with Asia-focused high conviction strategies. Other key stakeholders are (a) the Head of Roadmap Research; (b) the Head of Fundamental Research; (c) the Head of Systematic Research; and (d) the Head of Alignment and relevant team members.
- Ensures up-to-date working knowledge of our relevant product offering, including across High Conviction equities and the systematic TargetNetZero range (with a particular focus on Asia-focused TargetNetZero portfolios).
- Liaises with market counterparties and have active dialogue with key clients.
- Adheres to and understands risks to the Bank and the client.
- Complies with all applicable legal, regulatory and internal Compliance requirements, including, but not limited to Compliance manuals and Compliance policies and procedures as issued from time to time.
- Maintains appropriate knowledge to ensure to be fully qualified to undertake the role. Completes all mandatory training as required to attain and maintain competence.
- Of particular importance in this role is ensuring constant and smooth communication across Lombard Odier Investment Managers (LOIM) sustainability experts in the Singapore Hub with other members of the team based in London and Geneva, to ensure cohesion and consistency. Overseas travel may be required.

- Good understanding of both high conviction, active investment strategies and passive, systematic approaches.
- Demonstrated research capabilities, including independent problem-solving, data collection, analytical, writing and modelling skills.
- Excellent communication and presentational skills, ability to understand client and other stakeholder needs, and flexibly adapt marketing and verbal messages.
- Demonstrated aptitude for analytics, critical thinking, problem-solving and initiative-taking.
- Demonstrated clear and cohesive writing skills.
