The Youth Mentor plays a crucial role in supporting the growth and development of young individuals within the mosque. This position involves designing, implementing, and evaluating programmes and initiatives that promote the personal, social, and Islamic educational development of youth.
1. PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Develop and implement engaging programmes and activities that promote the personal, social, and spiritual development of youth members.
- Provide one-on-one mentoring to youth, offering guidance, support, and a positive role model presence.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate youth into broader community initiatives and events.
- Organise educational workshops, seminars, and events focusing on relevant topics for youth development.
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with influencers, community leaders and organisations that resonate with the youth community
- Identify and address the unique needs and challenges faced by youth within the community.
- Actively participate in recruiting and training volunteers to assist in youth programmes.
- Stay informed about current social media trends, issues, and resources relevant to youth development and incorporate them into engagement plans.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of youth programmes, making recommendations for improvement.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all youth participants.
2. SECONDARY DUTIES:
- Promote and support innovative and creative ways to generate income including fundraising initiatives and external funding via grants and sponsorship to ensure the ongoing sustainability of the unit and projects
- Provide support in District-based activities and initiatives
- Provide support in mosque event’s operations and manpower requirements
- Provide support in department’s collective initiatives, implementations and recommend plans for improvement
- Professional certificates/Diploma in Social Work or a related field, or 2-years of working experience with Youth
- Possess leadership skills, excellent communication skills, problem solving skills, interpersonal skills and can work independently
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
