The School of Materials Science & Engineering invites applications for the position of Project Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the preclinical skin biocompatability with clinical collaborators towards the objectives listed within the grant Nontoxic carbene photoinitiators for sustainable biomaterials
- Tasks include, but are not limited to cell and skin biocompatibility assays, polymer characterization techniques
- Be able to manufacture and synthesize natural and/or synthetic biomaterials
- Write and publish regular reports, manuscripts, and presentation in oral and written English
Job Requirements:
- Applicants should have a strong biopolymer/biomaterials science background and capable of cell and tissue biocompatibility characterization
- 2-4 years of academic/industrial research experience in related areas is required
- Completed BS in Materials Science / Polymer Chemistry / Biomaterials or equivalent
- Other desirable qualifications include laboratory experience in synthesis and characterization of elastomeric materials
- Experience with mammalian cell work is required
- Applicants who show initiative, and are highly motivated and dynamic preferred
- Experience in in-vitro/ex-vivo biocompatibility assays, and polymer characterization techniques such as GPC, XPS, NMR, FTIR
- Knowledgeable in both natural and/or synthetic biomaterials
- Evidence of publishing and project management in oral and written English
