Job Responsibilities:
- To support the Thai cadets in classes, meetings and events over the following aspects:
i)Simultaneous interpretation of teaching, message and communication in English to Thai
ii)Explaining teaching materials and communications in English to them with appropriate reference to their language, culture and context.
iii) Assisting them in understanding and meeting all instructions and requirements for their study, training and participation.
iv) Interpreting their responses to English whenever necessary
v) Making record and report any relevant issues or challenges arised.
- To facilitate English learning and provide tutorials to the Thai cadets on weekly basis.
- To be familiar with relevant TSA system and terminologies by studying documents and consulting training officers and other resources if necessary.
- To facilitate effective communication for the Thai cadets by clarifying any cultural or linguistic differences where arised.
- To translate and contextualize learning materials and ministry resources in English to Thai for the Thai cadets in study, training and ministry practices that they have efficient and effective learning.
- To manage good use of the interpreting equipment and techniques, and keep safe of the equipment (microphones, headsets) and other tools or materials provided.
- To observe and comply with relevant TSA policies, professional and ethical standards, including those on confidentiality, conflict of interests and impartiality.
- Any other relevant work tasks as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Minimal tertiary education in English and being proficient in Thai language
- Extensive experience in simultaneous interpretation of English and Thai in meetings and conferences.
- Sufficient skills in understanding religious materials and ministry resources in English, and capability for translating and contextualising them to Thai.
- With basic knowledge of The Salvation Army system and terminologies and supportive attitude to our mission, vision and values.
