Job Descriptions:
As a Legal / Senior Counsel of the Group, you will assist the Chief Legal Officer in handling all general corporate commercial and regulatory matters stemming from the Group's global businesses.
1. Draft and review commercial agreements / contracts with business partners and government authorities, ensuring that the terms are in accordance and compliance with corporate policy. Such agreements and contracts include areas relating to corporate governance, contracts, taxes, international trade and transportation, business development, foreign investment and finance etc.
2. Provide legal desk support and advice to business units on business development, daily operations / transactions and activities where necessary.
3. Help support all legal matters, especially pertaining to overseas projects.
4. Pursue / defense claims against / from third parties and resolve pending or threatened disputes by all available legal means.
5. Ensure compliance with relevant rules and regulations against set policies and procedures that runs within the group.
6. Assist in and take responsibility for other duties and special projects as assigned.
Job Requirements:
1. Bachelor of Laws degree from a recognized university.
2. More than 7 or 8 years of experience in private practice and/or in a legal department of a multinational company, have excellent analytical and communication skills, with close attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
3. Skills and knowledge in relation to both common law and continental law systems will be an added advantage.
4. Candidates who possess prior experience in foreign invest process will be advantageous.
5. Bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese so that can liaise with Chinese counterparties.
6. Willing to travel, e.g. Guinea, West Africa.
