School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) is looking for a candidate to join them as a Research Associate.
The Maritime Energy & Sustainable Development Centre of Excellence (MESD CoE) was launched in October 2017 and jointly funded by Singapore Maritime Institute (SMI) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU). MESD aims to be a leading global translational research centre in maritime energy and sustainable development. The Centre calls for talents with inspiration in maritime decarbonisation to join the team and is searching for Research Associates to work on research projects aimed at exploring alternative fuels and energy sources for the maritime industry.
Joining as a Research Associate, you will have opportunities to participate in the research projects on your own and meanwhile work together with other capable and experienced researchers in the centre.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research in the field of maritime energy and sustainable development for maritime decarbonisation
- Carry out ship data collection, analysis and modelling
- Prepare reports and papers for publication, presentation, periodical reporting/meetings, etc
- Liaise with project stakeholders, including funding agencies, industrial partners and academic staff in universities and institutes (locally and internationally)
Job Requirements:
- Master degree with very good academic results in Marine Engineering/Maritime Studies/any Engineering course from a reputable university
- Holistic knowledge of international shipping
- Good skills in data analysis and modelling
- Highly motivated and research oriented
- Able to work independently with minimum supervision
- Fluent verbal and written communications in English
- Problem solver and multi-tasking
- Self-motivated, mature, independent and resourceful
- Effective team player with good communication & interpersonal skills
- Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Strong publication record and experience in industry R&D projects will definitely be an added advantage
