BEDOK METHODIST CHURCH (the Church) is looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to: lead, shepherd and manage the Children Ministry according to the vision of the Church in order to win, nurture and build the children’s faith; and equip and develop them to be disciples of the Lord.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work out a long-term vision and strategy in line with the direction of the Church structure to effectively win and disciple the children in the Church and in the community.
- Work in consultation with Children Ministry (ChangeMakers) Chairperson and the Pastor designated for the ministry, and work closely with Nurture 1 administrative staff and committee.
- Organise and plan outreach programmes to Bedok Methodist Preschool (BMP) and the neighbourhood.
- Provide pastoral care and leadership to ChangeMakers leaders and children and do home visits to leaders and children where necessary.
- Develop and manage a discipleship track for children.
- Organise trainings for leadership development to sustain effective ministries and ensure leadership succession.
- Supervise all programmes and activities concerning the ministry (i.e. visit each class periodically to observe, provide support and advice to the CM teachers), including teaching sessions and relief classes.
- Counsel and advice in whatever area necessary: i. In planning and administering the total work of the Children Ministry; ii. Train and motivate teachers and organise or identify one course annually for teachers to attend, to develop their effectiveness as teachers and/or help them grow spiritually; iii. Identify, purchase, customise and/or develop teaching materials and resources for the teachers where necessary.
- Ensure an effective transition of children into the Youth Ministry.
- Be open and ready to adjust to new challenges, direction and needs of the Church.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Pastor-in-Charge.
REQUIREMENTS
- A born-again Spirit-filled Christian.
- Possess relevant theological studies and qualifications or experience in Children Ministry culture.
- Competent, passionate, and experienced in teaching the Bible and doing life with children.
- A recognized leader and motivator.
- Able to work on weekends and weekday nights where necessary.
