Main Responsibilities
Trading:
- Lead wheat & barley distribution in South East Asia, taking ownership of the product line destination book & P&L, with focus on South East Asia/ Australia/ Pacific trade
- Responsible for the development of wheat/barley long term biz plan in the region, and budget volumes/ margins
- Contribute to marketing of wheat/barley in Asia, in particular through constant pricing of different origins/grades to step-up customer engagement, and provide back up to G&O traders
- Contribute to the training and development of new traders/ marketers/ research
- Provide the P&L with required insights & reporting on of Asia wheat/barley market, activities and strategy
- Support BD/M&A team on commercial input for any grains related projects that are within or have a significant impact on the Asia region flows when required .
- Explore and lead commercial efforts to expand business in/to Asia
Research:
- Track wheat/ barley demand by quality and country
- Track demand coverage/ open demand for global commercial balance sheet and update in system
- Liaise with corn team to track/model demand changes and impacts on wheat/ barley demand
- Formulate/ update as required the rules for CFR matrix
- Ensure demand numbers have logic behind values (population growth, flour margin, export demand, corn/wheat spreads etc
- Utilise data science team to capture and centralise data in an Asia dashboard to create ease of access and ensure continuity of data (domestic wheat & flour prices, domestic corn prices, etc) and to improve tracking of demand
- Work with remote and local teams on developing local corn production forecast for model to accurately forecast localised feed shortages in the region
