Central to our global commodity processing and trading activities, the Ocean Freight Platform has grown to become a major global chartering entity. The candidate will sit on the Freight trading desk and will enjoy project responsibility, exposure to senior traders, and strong support from managers. You will be working in a research team with other analysts and data scientists. You will be able to leverage LDC data science stack, with proprietary python packages and databases.

Main Responsibilities:
- Monitoring and forecasting the supply and demand dynamics of the global iron ore and steel markets, as well as the key drivers and risks affecting them.
- Providing timely and insightful analysis and commentary on the iron ore and steel market developments, trends and outlooks
- Developing and maintaining quantitative models and databases to support the iron ore and steel market analysis and forecasting.
- Collaborating with other analysts across different commodities and regions to ensure a consistent and integrated view of the commodity markets.
- Contributing to the development and improvement of the research products, methodologies, and tools.
Experiences:
- At least 3 years of relevant experience research or trading, preferably in a commodity trading house, consultancy, or financial institution.
- A strong understanding of the iron ore and steel market fundamentals, drivers, and dynamics, as well as their impact on the dry bulk market.
- Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Other skills (Computer Skills, etc)
- Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and other data analysis tools.
- Skillful in Python.
Languages:
- English (Fluent)
- Ability to read and write Mandarin would be an added advantage
Academics
- Degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering or related field of study
