Assistant Manager (Audience Engagement)

As Assistant Manager under the Audience Engagement, which oversees the school and public programmes at Children’s Museum Singapore (CMSG), you understand CMSG’s vision of “A Place of Wonder and Joyful Learning for all children to engage with Singapore and the World”, and create compelling content that will help children understand Singapore’s diverse, multi-cultural heritage, explore their place in the world and prepare to play their part in the community; engender bonding and inculcate museum-going culture for families. You like working with different stakeholder groups, and share CMSG’s belief that “It takes a village to raise a child”. Hence, you work closely with partners and experts in education to give the best experience to children and their families.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conceptualise and implement creative and developmentally appropriate programmes/resources that would appeal to children 12 years and under
  • Work with both internal and external stakeholders to develop educational initiatives and programmes that are relevant to learning outcomes defined for the preschool and primary sectors
  • Lead engagement efforts with preschools, primary schools, and other partners
  • Oversee and manage school programmes bookings and ensure smooth running of these programmes
  • Prepare proposals, reports, manage your programme budgets and ensure scope and direction of programmes are on track
  • Manage administrative and logistical aspects of the programmes which include (but is not limited to) marketing, budget planning, visitor management, documentation, venue management etc

Other areas include:

  • Oversee and liaise with vendors/suppliers and partners in the areas of education and outreach
  • Supervise onsite and offsite educational programmes
  • Supervise interns, junior, temporary and/or outsourced staff who support school and public programmes at CMSG
  • Assist in other duties as assigned by the Management


Requirements

  • Background in Education, Arts & Social Sciences
  • Keen interest in the arts, heritage and museum field
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in heritage-projects or designing educational programmes, especially for children
  • Experience in museum and or teaching primary and early childhood sector’s curriculum will be an added advantage
  • Creative, innovative and resourceful, willing to experiment in uncharted territory
  • Able to work independently, yet be a good team player
  • Demonstrate initiative and drive, willingness to take on additional duties when required
  • Excellent interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the versatility to adapt to changing needs of projects
  • Able to work outside of regular office hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
  • IT-savvy, good practical knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and usage of social media marketing tools
  • Proficiency in other non-English official languages will be an added advantage
