The purpose of the Marketing B.U. is to sustainably maximise value from the marketing of Anglo American products and services.As part of our Global Sales Operations Team this role primarily supports our Energy Solutions business and is responsible for the calculation, negotiation and settlement of laytime for a portfolio of globally traded products including Thermal and Metallurgical (Steel Making) Coal.The trading environment is experiencing increased levels of complexity, which require greater flexibility and agility in order to avoid value leakage while delivering against our contracts.A good understanding of the principles of laytime, contract terms and negotiation skills are essential to protect Anglo American’s position, minimise losses and maximise returns.

Job Description
What you’ll do

This role is a fixed term role to support our Global Sales Operations team with our Energy Solutions Laytime obligations working in our ES Sales Operations team. The role will have responsibility to produce laytime calculations, negotiate with counterparties to through to financial settlement.

KEY TASKS

Laytime

Produce a laytime calculation/statement promptly for each vessel, ensuring no contractual time bars are missed and in line with the relevant contract.
Negotiate with Buyers/Suppliers/Vessel Owners to settlement.
Raise appropriate Invoice/Credit Note using our Marketing Trade system(s).
Keep full and accurate records at all stages of the negotiation to settlement.
Keep records of any events that impact on vessel loading activities
Produce a weekly Management Laytime Update/Summary with full commentary.
Produce a Monthly finance report (Net Gain/Losses, Invoices/Credit Notes status)
Debtor Control and cash management
Reconciliation of accounts payable and accounts receivable
Net Offs of trades
Stakeholder relationship management/maintenance
Supporting our fully flexible sales operations team ambition, in the careful calculation, negotiation and settlement of laytime.
Ensure accurate data entry to issue invoice/credit notes in Aspect, uploading relevant supporting documents.
Process Improvement

Support continuous review processes to identify opportunities that will help maximise value.
Support the implementation of key optimization projects to maximise value for the Marketing BU
Give input to Laytime terms in Trade contracts as required.
Sales Operations Support

Support Sales Operators on an as necessary basis in the operation of the sales/purchase contract.
Compliance, Risk and MasterdataContinual vigilance for Compliance issues, raise team awareness and assist to develop controls.
Assist in onboarding existing counterparties new bank details in line with the compliance processes.
Provide updates to operational risk on Thermal Coal debtor position on a weekly basis.

Qualifications
What we’re looking for

A detailed knowledge and experience of international shipping with particular reference to demurrage/despatch calculations and nomination procedures.
A detailed knowledge of sales contracts with an appreciation of trade markets and understanding of quality implications to enable the incumbent to contribute to the formulation of sales, purchase and freight contracts.
A working knowledge of International Trade and Shipping with particular reference to the International coal market would be an advantage
An understanding of Trade Finance Instruments primarily Letters of Credit and relevant contractual requirements
Full knowledge of the latest vessel vetting procedures so that vessel nominations can be checked for breach of sanctions.
A detailed knowledge of the operation of bulk trading contracts (such as SCoTA)
Understanding of the commodities markets is desirable
Understanding of Accountancy Principles
Understanding of Trade finance instruments
Systems such as SAP or Aspect
Commodity Trading
Trade Compliance - understands the principles of compliance within a trading function
Trade Finance, Accountancy and Management reporting - Understands the principles of accountancy and trade finance and can apply to management reporting.
