Job Description

The incumbent will provide support to the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following -

1) Organise events and special programmes

  • Plan, coordinate and execute the Department's initiative events.
  • Organise public relations and marketing events, from planning to implementation, and increase the visibility of the Department.
  • To engage internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create event publicity materials for events.
  • Source and implement ideas to improve publicity for the Department.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

2) Provide administrative support for events and activities

  • Be responsible for the budget and expenses.
  • Review and process applications/registration.
  • Attend to queries pertaining to the events and special programmes in a timely manner.
  • Prepare the expenses and other necessary reports (if any) when the events and special programmes cycle ends.
  • Draft event release timely for publicity.
  • Update the alumni database, including regular clean-up and maintenance.
  • To archive the documentation regularly.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements/Other Info

  • Possess a University degree/diploma
  • Possess excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Positive work attitude, self-driven, team-oriented with a strong service mindset.
  • Able to handle multiple projects/events on a tight timeline.
  • Independent and a self-starter yet a team player with an eye for details.
  • Meticulous and comfortable working with numbers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, web design and drafting for newsletters.
  • Similar work experience in the same areas would be advantageous.

- Remuneration is based on a 12-month salary structure, with annual variable bonus which is subject to incumbent’s performance and the University/School’s prevailing remuneration policies.

- The incumbent will be emplaced at an appropriate appointment grade based on his/her individual merits.
