Science Lab Assistant - Woodlands

Contract Period: 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025 with an option to extend the Contract for a further period of one year.


Working hours:

· Mondays to Thursdays : 7:30am to 4.30pm, inclusive of ½ hr lunch break

· Fridays: 7:30am to 4.00pm, inclusive of ½ hr lunch break

· Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays


Scope of Services:

1. Procurement: Check and verify items procured (e.g. ensuring the quality of products/ services delivered is satisfactory).

2. Lab support: Assists Science Laboratory Technicians in the operation and preparation of science laboratories and iCt Space. Duties include:

a. Assisting to escort vendors/ contractors and ensures that repair/ rectification works are completed in a safe and satisfactory manner

b. Ensuring that housekeeping supplies are well stocked.

3. School Safety and Security: Assists in the safety and security aspects of the school laboratories. This includes:

a. Assist Science Laboratory Technicians to keep track and check that emergency and first aid supplies are in usable condition, and all fire fighting equipment are in correct locations and in working order.

b. Reporting any security breaches promptly

4. Student-related Administration:

a. Assist teachers and Science Laboratory Technicians with routine logistical and operational tasks related to teaching and learning of Science and school’s Applied Learning Programme (e.g. preparation of materials)

5. Perform any other logistical and operational tasks as assigned by School Leader/Key Personnel


Qualification, skill & experience:

1. Able to read and write in English.

2. Good communication and inter-personal skills.

3. Demonstrates basic understanding of resources management (e.g. inventory, facilities) policies and procedures to provide effective support when required.

4. Be flexible with working hours depending on school needs.

5. Preferably completed at least Primary School Education.

6. Preferably with 1 year of experience in logistics or simple administrative duties
