CISD currently has an opportunity for an experienced Strategy Consultant to join the Caterpillar team.

About the Position

The Strategy Consultant leads development and execution of the mid to long-term business development strategy with the business partners and a given territory or market.

The primary responsibilities for this position will be to (but not limited to)

  • Works with business partners across the organization and outside consultants to gain industry trends and collect voice of the customer and voice of the business to propose ideas for business growth.
  • Manages metrics, dashboards and supporting management tools in place to monitor performance and develop processes to increase the sale
  • Planning and directing all projects viewed as critical to department and the enterprise
  • Gather information and assess the market including competitive issues, market dynamics, market service needs and the company position in the industry by securing a leadership role within the trade associations, technical bodies and schools particular to this sector.

Employee may also be responsible for performing other job duties occasionally as assigned.

Required Skill and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Marketing, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Communication or equivalent experience
  • 5-7 years of job-related experience including experience in the aftermarket, past dealer-facing roles, project management/black belt experience, industry specific knowledge, etc.
  • Should have broad business background, specific long-term industry knowledge and excellent communication skills - both written and verbal, including the ability to interact across all levels of the organization
  • Must be able to deal with sensitive issues, mentor and coach, and/or persuade others on new methods of equipment application, new technology and distribution methods.
  • Capable at being futuristic and activating the organization to execute.
  • Customer Focus: Knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions.
  • Data Gathering & Analysis: Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Negotiating: Knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
  • Strategic Thinking: Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.
  • Value Selling: Knowledge of the principles and practices for selling products, technology and services; ability to provide overall product/service 'value' and to differentiate support offerings that address clearly understood customer needs.
