The ICC Office under InsPIRE is responsible for a wide spectrum of activities related to NTU’s Interdisciplinary Collaborative Core (ICC) curriculum which is part of the NTU Education 2025 strategy.
ICC Office is responsible for working with the different colleges/schools to offer and administer the seven core ICC courses that will be taken by all NTU students admitted from AY2021-22 onwards.
This role is required to oversee the management, administrative and coordination aspects of the ICC that include academic planning, timetabling, course registration, and course delivery and assessment, and the assignment and management of the faculty, ICC Lecturers and ICC Specialists hired to teach the courses. The role is critical in ensuring a meaningful and value-adding learning experience for all NTU undergraduates and the faculty involved in ICC teaching.
Responsibilities:
Office Administration
- Administer procurement, reimbursement and financial activities of ICC Office
- Assist colleagues from InsPIRE and other units under InsPIRE in overseeing office related matters
- Serve as the secretary/note-taker for all ICC Meetings
- Assist with the planning and organisation of ICC-related meetings, workshops/seminars, and team-building activities
- Assist with the selection of ICC instructors for the Nanyang Excellence Awards for Teaching
- Assist with all other ICC-related administrative tasks
Course & Student Administration
- Oversee and manage inter-college/school/department collaboration and serve as the liaison between ICC Office and Colleges/Schools on matters relating to student enrolment and instructor assignment, coordination of academic matters and activities
- Oversee and manage all ICC courses’ curriculum matters including liason with course coordinators and course instructions, submission of course outline for approval, timetable planning, course registration, course attendance, and consolidation of final course marks
- Administer student-related matters such as student combination in classes (ensuring classes consist of a good mix of students from different programmes), change of classes, course exemptions and credit transfers
Faculty & HR Matters
- Assist ICC/Dirs and HRBP on coordination for Faculty Search Committee, Promotion Review Committee, Reappointment Review Committee etc.
- Arrange for interview and mock-teaching sessions for the hiring of faculty
- Work with colleges/schools and course coordinators on the assignment and allocation of full-time and part time instructors teaching ICC courses
- Work with HR and schools on the appointment of new adjunct instructors and reappointment of existing part time instructors
- Approve the the teaching claims of part time instructors
- Prepare the necessary information needed and scheduling of ICC instructors for annual performance appraisal of ICC instructors and coordinate with HRBP and the reporting officers of ICC lecturers on appraisal meetings
Outreach
- Be the main point of contact and support to students, partners and schools on matters related to the ICC
- Manage information concerning ICC curriculum and matters on the Internet and Intranet, and other relevant social media platforms
- Conduct, coordinate and/or support activities to share and promote ICC’s mission and curriculum, including the compilation and production of relevant marketing materials and eDMs
- Assist in the planning and organisation of outreach activities including marketing collaterals (eg, door gifts)
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant working experience, preferably in an institute of higher learning and/or the education sector
- Prior experience in a relevant administrative/managerial role in an institute of higher learning will be advantageous
- Meticulous with good organisational skills and a keen eye for detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good writing skills with the ability to prepare succinct reports
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access) and student information/database management systems
- Knowledge in basic video editing, web-design and database management will be advantageous
