The veterinary officer will report to the Attending Veterinarian and Directors' Office and work closely with the veterinary team and technicians.
The role of the veterinary officer is to be responsible for, but not limited to the following:
- Ensure the welfare and health of research animals including rodents and fish
- Prevention, alleviation and minimisation of pain and distress of animals
- Provision of scientific research support, information, and services
- Development of animal husbandry systems and facility operational management
- IACUC responsibilities
- Education of scientific, animal care and ancillary staff
- Any other exigencies of duties as directed by the Attending Veterinarian, Directors, or senior BRC staff
Job Requirements:
- Degree in Veterinary Science or Veterinary Medicine with eligibility to apply for an AVS veterinary licence.
- Prior work experience in research animal facility is not required but will be considered favourably.
