Engineering Associate Manager

This key plant leadership position is responsible for supervising and directing the engineering , maintenance and automation activities of the Singapore PepsiCo Concentrate plant. The role manages improvement, corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance activities for production equipment, utilities and facilities as well as Site Capital Expenditure for engineering projects.

This role further identifies, develops, and implements strategic plans and tactical initiatives to establish world-class maintenance practices that meets targets on quality, service, cost, and inventory objectives of PGCS.

Also responsible for all budgetary, people development and organizational objectives for Site Capital , Maintenance and Automation Engineering areas by managing, leading, coaching and mentoring the team to ensure performance objectives are met, building positive employee relations and building leadership bench strength within the engineering & maintenance function.


Responsibilities


Maintenance & Automation

  • Lead preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure equipment infrastructure and technical processes are effectively maintained to support the highest quality product, to deliver productivity, to comply with local regulations, and to adhere to PGCS technical, EHS and Quality standards
  • Leads the Automation activities for one of the most automated site in the PGCS network
  • PLC systems, SCADA, Wonderware applications, Recipe management
  • Support the roll out and integration of Digital Factory and Digital Asset Security programs for automation assets on site.
  • Reduce preventive and corrective maintenance impacts on True Efficiency to support the Production uptime target and minimize unplanned maintenance down time.
  • Ensure compliance and continuous improvement to PepsiCo maintenance methodology (PeMM) standards and audit including
  • Ensure accurate master data in SAP for PM Planning and execution .
  • Manage department budget allocations including small improvements, corrective, preventive and predictive work, outsourcing activities, contract labor, spare parts inventory, and utilities operation to meet approved budget
  • Operate, monitor and maintain Treated Water, Steam Generation, Compressed Air and Chilled Water & other utilities & facilities for the site to support Production activities
  • Manage the Asset Replacement Program through the Capital projects pipeline to reduce maintenance costs
  • Establish spare part management strategies to optimize on-hand availability and carrying cost leveraging the SAP PM system.
  • Key driver of continuous improvements within the Maintenance function and the wider plant teams.
  • Support all plant related audits incl AIBI, HSA & FM Global visits.
  • Ensure that the site (plant and equipment) is maintained in a safe manner and that all the relevant safety systems are in place, effective and regularly tested.
  • Co-ordinate the introduction of new equipment into the plant . Ensure all new equipment are registered in SAP and spare parts and PM plans are updated.
  • Manage, monitor and evaluate the performance of outside contractors.

Capital Projects :

  • Responsible for planning and execution of plant capital engineering projects which include preparation of project scope and business case, project approval, engineering design work, procurement, installation, commissioning, validation, Snagging & and handover to operations while ensuring compliance to company Quality , EHS , Engineering Design & regulatory requirements.
  • Preparation and submission of annual Site Capital Plan for capital projects to Corporate Engineering. Provide support to other departments for identifying bottlenecks and improvement projects to meet future requirements. Ensure all identified projects are included in Annual Capital Plan.
  • Develop strong business case for key site capital projects and present to Corporate Capital Expenditures Committee for approval
  • Support Finance in Annual Fixed Asset Register Audit .
  • To learn and bring to Pepsi the most applicable technology available.

Quality

  • Support and promote cGMP, Food Safety, nRFT, FSMA, AIB and FIF Quality programs both through Automation and Maintenance activities

EHS

  • Support the Work Permit, LOTO, Risk Analyses, Electrical Safety and MESS programs to promote a Safety culture
  • Support EHS to meet LTIR = 0 and RIR = 0 targets through Contractor and staff safety management
  • Support FM Global and GEHSMS initiatives through Engineering and Maintenance activities to meet Corporate requirements
  • Support responsible use of resources (electricity, water, fuel oil) and executes sustainability capital projects to meet corporate ReCon targets

People

  • Developing bench for all the key positions thus ensuring team’s capability build up & business continuity.
  • Fostering a positive and engaging work environment within function & plant that improves “Org Health Index”
  • Ensuring the work life balance through proper planning & leaves to people as per plan.
  • Coaching, motivating and developing team members to build a high performing maintenance & engineering team
  • Identifying the training needs of DR’s and planning for their career development.
  • Timely reviewing the performance of subordinates & providing them with constructive feedback
  • Initiate hiring when needed to cope with expanding workload or for replacement of leaving employees.
  • Establish SMART Targets & conduct formal performance reviews per company policy as per PMP guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering discipline
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in project management
  • Ability to effectively communicate business challegnes/opportunity to ensure appropriate project resource allocation.
  • Medium knowledge of Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point) and SAP PM
  • Knowledge of PLC systems, SCADA, and automation
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Able to work under tight deadlines
