Job Overview

This role will be working closely with and providing support to the President & CEO in developing and driving the overall strategy and planning for the Company. This role will also be responsible and accountable for overall management and oversight of the Dry Bulk Division and Tanker Division.

As part of the management member of the Company, this role will further focus on the development of the strategies for the Company as a whole, which will involve the supervising of the corporate functions such as the Finance and Accounting Division, together with the leading of the chartering, operations and marine teams.


Responsibilities and Duties

1) Dry Bulk Carrier chartering group and Tanker group

- Supervise the sales and chartering staff and lead the chartering team to maximise profits

- Developing relationships with existing customers and brokers and developing new relationships with new

customers and brokers

- Supervise all fleet allocation and planning for future vessels assignments for all of our control vessels.

- Supervise all chartering activities to maximise profits and minimise risks

- Planning and implementing the optimum size of fleet operations

- Developing an agile portfolio strategy for fleet commercial operations in line with market conditions.

- Supervise all FFA activity to hedge risks

- Developing monthly summary of operating results, with further analysis and reporting to management

- Developing all budget(yearly/half-yearly/quarterly) required by company with further analysis and reporting

to management


2) Operation Group (Dry Bulk Carrier and Aframax Tanker)

- Supervise the operation staff and lead the operation team to achieve cost minimisation and safe operation

- Responsible for receiving freight, demurrage, hire from charterers in time

- Developing relationship with local agents and all vendors who support the vessels’ operations

- Supervise purchasing activity of fuel oil to minimise cost

- Supervise the speed and consumption performance of all our fleet

- Liaising with lawyers to resolve any problems that may arise


3) Marine Group

- Supervise the marine staff and lead the marine team to achieve vessels’ safe operation

- Supervise the ship management policy as ship owner to achieve and keep vessels’ satisfactory condition

- Supervise all ship management contract for our fleet

- Developing relationships with ship management company to make sure our tonnage is well managed

- Supervise and implement all docking activity for own tonnage

- Supervise arrangement of all necessary documentations for vessels operations including insurance, etc

- Supervise that all international rules are followed and update to latest rules


4) Corporate Planning Group

- Developing monthly summary of all sales divisions profit loss and report to management

- Planning and implementing purchase or disposal of vessels.

- Developing all budget(yearly/half-yearly/quarterly) required by company with further analysis and reporting to management


Requirement/Qualifications

• Minimum experience required:

- Minimum experience of 15 years in Bulk carrier including Chartering and Operations

- Minimum experience of 5 years relating to S&P of vessels activities

- Minimum experience of 5 years in management experience (Led a team of at least 10 staff)


• Preferable experience:

- Familiarity with the Dry Bulk shipping market, particularly in relation to the South East Asia, the Middle East, China and Japan. Current connections with customers in the South East Asia, the Middle East, China and Japan would be an advantage

- Experience in fixing large and long term contracts with big Dry Bulk 1st Class charterers

- Good and wide contacts with the shipbuilding industry

- Experience in managing the company’s overall profit loss


• Skills/Requirements:

- Sufficient knowledge and experience of ship financing

- Sufficient knowledge and experience of ship accounting

- This role will travel frequently in the future for business on short or long term basis.

- This role will have to communicate and liaise with Japanese counterparts (such as customers, charterers, Shipowners and shipyards). Proficiency in written and spoken Japanese is preferred
