Our client is a leading construction group with footprints across Asia and has handled many notable projects. They are currently looking for a Legal Counsel and you will be part of an established legal team in Singapore, with support from the Legal Team based in their HQ.
Responsibilities:
• Provide legal analysis and advice to senior management and cross-functional project
teams with regards to identified areas of potential legal risks, opportunities and
compliance with applicable laws;
• Provide legal analysis and advice on commercial and employment law activities
including formation of new entities, corporate law, compliance with policies and
regulations;
• Provide legal guidance and support to ensure all transactions and activities shall meet
company internal policies and standards, and local legal, regulatory and compliance
standards, as well as the applicable laws and regulations;
• Provide case management support for all kinds of disputes, arbitration/litigation/adjudication cases;
• Liaise and coordinate with global head office in carrying out legal function.
• Liaise with and manage external law firms and advisors, including evaluation of external advisers;
• Track developments and trends in regional policies and regulations;
• Provide legal training to internal employees and project teams, and case law;
• Represent company before administrative or quasi-judicial government agencies.
Requirements:
• Possess a Degree in Law. Qualified to practice law in an Asia Pacific jurisdiction
• Minimum 6 years post-qualification experience in an EPC environment
• Familiarity with standard contracts such as FIDIC, PSSCO, REDAS, SIA or PAM
• Broad-based knowledge in policies and regulations in the Southeast Asia region.
• Familiarity with Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines and/or Indonesia legal framework will be advantageous
• Has handled large-scale infrastructure, Building and Plant projects
• Experience in Public Private Partnership framework for projects
• Well organized, timely in delivery of work and able to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision
• A strong team player with good interpersonal, communication and analytical skills
