Our client, an established blockchain firm with a presence in both Korea and Singapore, is seeking an experienced in-house legal counsel to handle all legal blockchain and crypto matters for their operations in the two jurisdictions. The successful candidate is required to speak and write in Korean to communicate with Korean stakeholders and external parties.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Reporting directly to the management council
- Implementing business and legal decisions aligned with the firm's objectives
- Collaborating with cross-functional and regional teams spanning product, business, and strategy
- Monitoring global regulatory and legal developments, with a focus on Singapore and Korea
- Developing forward-thinking business and legal strategies
- Handling ad-hoc corporate legal responsibilities in line with strategic business plans
Qualification
- Ideally, a Korean-qualified lawyer fluent in English with over 4 years of post-qualification experience in IT/fintech/blockchain, preferably in-house or with international law firms/consulting firms.
- Ability to confidently engage with senior firm members, delivering clear and logical advice on complex legal matters
- Strong problem-solving skills, adept at managing uncertainty, and executing tasks with excellence
- Proficient in essential computer programs like Microsoft Office
- Exceptional writing skills in both English and Korean
- Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Experience dealing with government and regulatory authorities in finance
- Proficient negotiation skills
- Understanding of Intellectual Property principles
- Deep familiarity with the blockchain business
- Awareness of legal and commercial risks, with the ability to establish risk management strategies in line with business objectives
- Sound judgment in balancing legal risks against business benefits
- Appropriate maturity and experience to manage and develop talent, establishing credibility at senior levels externally and internally
Excellent proficiency in both written and oral English and Korean is a strict requirement to communicate with C suite stakeholders and various Korean counterparties.
