As a Material Planner in the data center, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless flow of materials and resources required for efficient data center operations. Your responsibilities will include material planning, daily coordination, ground material checks, system verification, and supporting team supervisors in material tracking processes. This role demands a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational and communication skills, capable of managing logistics in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Planning:
- Strategize and execute material procurement plans in alignment with operational requirements and forecasted volumes of incoming racks and machine trays to ensure timely availability of hardwares.
Daily Coordination:
- Coordinate daily logistics activities, including but not limited to shipping, receiving, and internal material movements.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to address any logistical challenges and ensure on-time delivery of materials.
Systematic Tracking:
- Collaborate with the supervisor to maintain accurate records and track all incoming materials within the system, enabling seamless monitoring and availability for deployment.
- Oversee quality control measures to identify and rectify discrepancies promptly.
- Conduct regular ground material checks to verify the accuracy and condition of incoming shipments, including racks, machine trays, and cables.
Order Management:
- Manage and process orders for hardware racks, machine trays, cables, and related materials, ensuring timely procurement and delivery to meet project timelines.
- Address any issues related to tracking systems promptly and efficiently.
- Monitor lead times and communicate effectively with vendors to prevent delays in hardware delivery.
Metrics Management:
- Overlook the build SLAs and alert the supervisors / team on any potential issues / misses.
Supporting Supervisor and team members:
- Assist the team supervisor by providing necessary data, reports, and insights into material availability, status, and forecasts, aiding in informed decision-making.
- Collaborate with management to optimize logistics processes and enhance overall efficiency.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in logistics, material planning, or coordination roles - 3yrs of experience.
- Strong understanding of inventory management, systems and software - SAP, JDA, Excel.
- Past experience with data center hardware, equipment, and related components is a bonus.
- Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and ensure timely completion in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills to liaise with vendors, internal teams, and stakeholders effectively.
- Meticulous attention to detail during material inspections and tracking to guarantee quality and accuracy.
- Ability to identify and resolve logistics-related issues promptly to minimize disruptions in material flow.
- Proficiency in excel and microsoft office is a must.
