Team Description:

The Global Response Operations organization within Global Operations responds to real-time crises, proactively identifies and evaluates emerging risks, conducts risk-related investigations, and assesses what we could be doing to best benefit our community. By understanding and consistently managing incidents and real-time crises to resolution, the organization drives continuous improvement with our partners across Meta.

The Detection team within Global Response Operations is focused on detecting emerging on-platform risks that pose harm to individuals, communities and businesses on our platform. We identify, investigate and understand those risks. We partner closely with other Global Response Operations teams, Policy, Product and Process teams to mitigate those risks.

We are currently hiring for an experienced individual with a demonstrated ability to identify online risk and build strategic relationships with cross-functional stakeholders to tackle those risks at their root cause.

Reporting directly to the Global Head of Detection, the successful candidate will work as part of the GRO Detection leadership team to drive the creation and execution of Risk Detection strategies and will help shape the direction of a global team.

We are looking for a self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity and can proactively identify solutions to key business challenges.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support in the development and execution of the GRO Detection team strategy, operating model and objectives
  • Independently lead a functional area of the team including setting goals and coaching individuals assigned to that area
  • Proactively evaluate, plan and execute complex initiatives centered on the detection of risk on Metas family of apps
  • Develop processes and methodologies that will shape our approach to the detection of emerging risks during ‘steady state’ and ‘critical event’ operations
  • Build productive working relationships and represent GRO Detection as a strategic partner with key cross-functional stakeholders
  • Partner with internal experts to build a deep understanding of how, where, and why diverse forms of risk manifest across Meta’s platforms
  • Use data and internal tools to identify and investigate potential risk areas and patterns at scale across abuse types
  • Work cross-functionally to drive mitigation for identified risk areas, including conducting enforcement on violating trends
  • This role may involve exposure to potentially graphic and/or objectionable content including but not limited to graphic images, videos, audio and writings, offensive or derogatory language, and other potential objectionable material, i.e. child exploitation, graphic violence, self-injury, animal abuse, and other content which may be considered offensive or disturbing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years experience in a Trust & Safety, Risk Operations or Risk Investigations role
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated experience leading the development and execution of multi-stakeholder projects
  • Demonstrated ability to work in ambiguous environments and create solutions to complex problems
  • Experience with large data sets with an aptitude for risk identification and analysis
  • Experience communicating complex or technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Knowledge of global current events, including developments in politics, technology, law and culture
  • Ability to work with potentially graphic and objectionable content.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Investigative or program management experience in one or more of the following areas: Fraud & Deception, Ads, Youth Safety, Human Exploitation, Dangerous Organizations
  • Strong Data Skills - SQL proficiency
  • Basic proficiency in AI branches and ML concepts
