Plan, procure, implement, manage and/or support Application Systems under one or more Business Domains (e.g. Student Application and Admission), with the objective of fulfilling business needs and improving operational efficiencies of Business Departments using the Application Systems and/or solutions implemented.
What you will be doing
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Management
- Lead market research and feasibility study
- Plan the project
- Procure the solution
- Project manage the implementation
- Facilitate transition to post-live support in order to ensure successful IT systems adoption at Business Departments to meet business objectives.
Business Operation & Support
- Provide on-going maintenance, upgrade and support of the business application systems
- Manage service delivery of vendors
- Support operation of the Business Departments (e.g. student application and admission process) in order to facilitate smooth and efficient running of the university processes and activities.
Enhance Existing Application Systems
- Identify areas of improvement
- Gather, prioritize and document business requirements
- Estimate and negotiate man-effort with vendors
- Lead/oversee the enhancements of business application systems
- Manage quality of deliverables and performance of vendors in order to ensure timely delivery of enhancements required to support business operational needs.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent
- Certification in PMP or CITPM will be an added advantage.
- At least 8 years in IT industry, inclusive of 3+ years in a technical role, and 3+ years’ experience in project management
- Experience in managing projects with a budget of over $100k.
- Strong business process, analytical, systems and design thinking skills.
- Ability to assimilate information quickly, and communicate complex requirements and issues clearly and concisely. The ability to understand the business questions that users are trying to answer is essential.
- Good oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of management, end users and vendors.
- Must be a self-starter and able to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Must be a good team player, proactive in nature, fast learner, highly organised and positive attitude.
- Experience in Higher Education industry especially Student Application and Admission is a bonus.
- Good grasp of IT technologies, methodologies, architectures, and best practices.
- Knowledge and experience of SDLC, RDBMS and SQL.
- Appreciation of cybersecurity best practices.
