An outstanding and inspirational University and Careers Counsellor is required for an August 2024start.

The University and Careers Counselling (UCC) team at Dulwich College (Singapore) is a key element of our 'Students Come First' mission. Working closely with our pastoral leaders and academic programme coordinators, the UCC team is involved in the education and guidance of all students from Year 7 to 13. From identifying interests and passions, to targeting careers and future study programmes, the team is focused on supporting all our students in finding their 'best fit', personalised pathway, beyond the College. A Head of University and Careers Counselling role may be available for suitable candidates.

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate:

As a University and Careers Counsellor within Dulwich, you will serve as an integral part of the student journey through the development and implementation of the university and careers programme. This role is pivotal in supporting students by engaging all relevant stakeholders in providing programming and services to students in order to ensure individual pathway development and entitlement for all students to support future goals.

The University and Careers Counsellors act as a link to all relevant departments to gain an in-depth understanding of student ambitions, abilities and goals that are essential in supporting students and families in career, university and post-secondary planning. You will promote and nurture a culture focused on growth, purpose, and a sense of belonging to help students find their best fit for the future and to be their best selves. You will also become part of an exciting educational organisation, that encourages individual attention on the student, supporting families through transitions and staff engagement through professional learning and interactions.

Candidate will:

  • Have a relevant qualification/certification in university and careers counselling and at least two years of relevant experience working within a secondary school setting;
  • Have relevant experience in an international school setting with experience working inter-departmentally to embed university and careers programming;
  • Have a deep working knowledge of UK, UK, European, Singapore, Hong Kong, Canadian, and Australian admissions processes and systems;
  • Have classroom and curriculum development experience to lead robust university and career programming;
  • Have experience working with international students and families with a deep, working knowledge of the importance of culturally responsive practice;
  • Liaise as appropriate with outside agencies and community members to support all areas of programming;
  • Have experience with university admissions testing for US and UK admissions, including serving as test site supervisor for ACT/SAT;
  • Have working knowledge of university application platforms;
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Be flexible and able to meet deadlines;
  • Fulfil all pastoral, welfare, and supervisory duties effectively and willingly;
  • Role model a mindset of continuous development and improvement, to meet and exceed expectations;
  • Be committed to quality, attention to detail, and high standards.
