Candidates are expected to:-
- Take command of the tug and its crew;
- Navigate the tug safely and ensure proper precautions are taken by the crew, including the posting of a lookout in the wheelhouse;
- Monitor the machinery performance from the bridge and ensure that regular checks on engine room’s machinery have been carried out by the Engineers;
- Ensure all crew and contractors are properly attired with required PPE;
- Assign maintenance/other work/job to crew and conduct risk assessment prior to commencement of work;
- Take responsibility for the safety of the tug and crew under all circumstances and ensure that all repairs/defects are being attended to;
- Oversee and take charge of bunkering procedure with compliance to bunkering checklist provided;
- Ensure that all equipment, instruments, life-saving apparatus, fire-fighting appliances, and machinery are in good working condition and ensure that proper maintenance records are kept; and
- Communicate with the operations staff at Mission Command Centre on tug operations at all times and report any breakdown, accident, loss of properties, etc. immediately to the Duty operations staff.
The ideal candidate must:-
- Possess a valid Port Limit Helmsman licence issued by Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore; and
- Be willing to perform shift work.
*Monthly salary as advertised is basic salary. Monthly gross salary includes night shift allowance, night shift special transport allowance, meal allowance, and productivity incentives (after success clearance of Tug Master Training Program), where applicable.
*Shortlisted candidates will join us as Trainee Tug Masters and undergo the Tug Master Training Program. Once he/she completes the training program, he/she will take on the role of Tug Master.
