Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development and adaptation of new designs for next-generation semiconductor equipment within a multidisciplinary team.
- Develop embedded systems supporting real-time distributed control, multiprocessing, and data analysis.
- Design power electronics and controls for motors, actuators, and transducers, including servo drive, discrete power amplifier, and power supply design.
- Conduct multilayer PCB design and verification using Altium Designer®.
- Design continuous-flex cables for interconnecting bonder systems using Zuken™ E3.cable.
- Coordinate the production release of PCB and cable designs via Siemens Teamcenter®.
- Draft specifications and documentation for new designs.
- Perform bench and lab testing at both the board and machine integration levels.
- Execute bring-up, troubleshooting, and debugging of prototypes.
- Provide support for production/field issues related to system/subsystem challenges within cross-functional groups.
- Conduct engineering verification and set up/execute reliability testing plans.
The Successful Applicant
Requirements:
- Bacherlor in Electrical Engineering with at least 5 years of experience or Masters with at least 3 years of experience.
- Working knowledge of PID controls and feedback theory.
- Experience with PCB design, including component libraries, schematic capture, and layout. Altium Designer® experience is advantageous.
- Experience with cable design for continuous-flex applications. Zuken™ E3 experience is a plus.
- Experience with microcontrollers and firmware programming using C.
- Experience working with debuggers is beneficial.
- Experience reading and writing technical specifications.
- Experience with FPGAs and HDL, including IP integration, RTL simulation, and timing analysis.
- Familiarity with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and current/differential probes.
- Knowledge of various motor applications, including DC servo motors, 3-phase linear motors, stepper motors, voice coil motors, etc.
- Knowledge of VME, PCIe, RS485, Ethernet, LVDS, and Serdes is a plus.
- Knowledge of machine-level electrical system architecture design is advantageous.
