About Hearts@Work
Launched in 2009, Hearts@Work is a Sheltered Workshop for young adults with intellectual challenges that offers vocational training to raise their independence and self-sufficiency. Through continuous developmental support, Hearts@Work helps trainees pick up essential work skills to improve their employability and self-confidence. We also provide them with a warm, welcoming and encouraging environment where they can interact with their peers and develop key social and communication skill. Together, trainees undertake work assignments commissioned by private companies, providing them with practical and hands-on work experience.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Assist Centre Administrator in the following areas:
- Plans, implements, reviews and evaluates individual trainees and engages in continuous assessment, training and evaluation of trainees’ holistic development.
- Works collaboratively with other trainers and caregivers in planning and implementing appropriate CBT and intervention programmes for trainees with behavioural concerns.
- Knows and demonstrates the principles and application of confidentiality and discretion when managing trainees’ matters.
- Displays creativity and applies innovative ideas when planning group activities for trainees.
- Monitors and implements programmes in the area of health fitness & wellness programme, motivational & behaviour management plans as well as sensory awareness.
- Actively engages in on-going training and applies knowledge and skills acquired to benefit the trainees’ development, programmes and activities.
- Engages and works collaboratively with volunteers for in-house production works and activities (indoor/outdoor).
- Ensures production schedules are met in good time and quality requirements are met.
- Provides a safe and conducive learning, training environment and ensures work station’s procedures and objectives are managed seamlessly.
- Establishes and maintains regular good communication/rapport with caregivers, stakeholders, HQ, and colleagues across all other services of CWS.
- Uses community resources to foster trainees’ independence in the community and increase public awareness of persons with special needs thus promoting inclusion in the Community.
Skills Requirements
- Computer literacy skills in MS Office (Words, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- With great deal of patience and passion to work with people with intellectual challenges, autism, OCD, developmental delayed, down syndrome.
Qualifications, Knowledge
- Min. Diploma, Higher Diploma or Degree in Special Education, Social Services, Community Services, Disability Studies, Counselling.
- Other SSI (Social Service Institute) certifications in disabilities studies such as autism, intellectual disabilities, mental healths, etc.
- Certified First-Aider.
Years of Relevant Work Experience Required
At least 5 years of working / hand-on experience in sheltered workshop or Day Activities Centre, or SPED (SPecial EDucation) school. Candidates with management / supervision skills is an added advantage.
**The Centre will be relocated from Church of Nativity to East Coast Road in the second half of 2024**
