Main purpose of the role
The Mechanical Designer has the responsibility to create, implement and test the design at the system level, conform to the departmental and project procedures and processes.
Key Areas of responsibility
· Responsible for Requirements, Design, implementation, test and integration of design in accordance with the higher level Requirement and - Design specifications / architectures.
· Project coordination with customer engineering, and supplier engineer during the design review, and detail design phases
· Rework coordination with supplier on the existing design changes to meet the new design requirement
· Tolerance stack up analysis and GD&T
· Drawing release (Drawings, OMS) for Proto order
· Proto build - form, fit and function
· Test plan preparation
· Document & BOM release in EDOC / Enovia
· Able to work independently to Design Mechanical design and power distribution systems for semiconductor metrology instruments
· Able to work independently to Integrate and test subsystems
· Able to work independently to Design tools/fixtures for manufacturing and field services
· Defines, executes and takes the lead in concept and feasibility studies with a limited scope to investigate the usability of new technologies.
· Ensures the mutual consistency and efficient integration of the separate modules in modular, easy-to-maintain units that meets the product specification
· Determines the Unit interfaces (HW/SW), in close consultation with relevant disciplines.
· Ensures that there is proper documentation for his/her design.
· Contributes to the Work Breakdown Structure/ the planning process of his/her area.
· Draws up personal schedule and reports on progress
· Performs work in line with the processes that have been agreed in the department.
