Key accountability (Main purpose of this job):
The Data Analyst plays a pivotal role in driving data-driven decision-making across our school. You will be responsible for designing and implementing data analysis strategies, extracting insights from various data sources, and communicating actionable findings to stakeholders to improve student learning, operational efficiency, and overall school performance.
The Data Analyst is also responsible for building and maintaining an accurate school timetable that organises and supports student learning.
Responsibilities (Key areas of Responsibilities):
Data Acquisition and Management:
- Develop and implement data collection strategies for academic, student, and operational data
- Design and maintain data pipelines to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and accessibility
- Perform data cleaning, transformation, and integration tasks
- Manage data quality and implement data governance practices
- Extract, transform and load data from various sources into Google BigQuery
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Conduct in-depth analysis of student performance data (e.g., standardised test scores, grades, attendance) and Operational data (e.g., HRMS, Facilities Management System, IT Systems etc) to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement
- Analyse student engagement and learning behaviours to inform instructional strategies and curriculum development
- Develop and deliver data-driven reports and presentations including actionable insights to stakeholders, including teachers, administrators, and leadership teams
- Generate regular and ad-hoc reports to support decision-making at both strategic and operational levels
- Create and maintain dashboards and visualisations to effectively communicate data insights
- Comprehensive data analysis using SQL queries and advanced BigQuery functions
Predictive Modelling:
- Develop and implement predictive models to forecast student performance, identify at-risk students, and optimise educational strategies
- Use statistical techniques to analyse historical data and build models that contribute to academic success and overall school improvement
Data Visualization:
- Create visually appealing and easy-to-understand dashboards and reports to communicate complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders
- Utilise data visualisation tools to present insights in a compelling and accessible manner
- Facilitate the development of new engines and modifications of existing engines in order to meet CIS data visualisation needs
Decision Support:
- Partner with stakeholders to identify data-driven solutions to address specific challenges and opportunities
- Utilise data analysis to support strategic planning, resource allocation, and program evaluation
- Contribute to the development and implementation of data-driven initiatives and projects.
- Meet with collaborators to understand and meet their data needs and goals. For example to create systems for the easy access of data to support events like UN Week, excursion lists, estimate foreign language book purchases
- Consult with collaborators to streamline their work process including data collection and presentation
- Clearly and concisely communicate complex data insights to technical and non-technical audiences
Surveys and Data Reports (School and Operational):
- Coordinate with stakeholders to properly set up the survey/form on the survey platform
- Transform and load data into BigQuery in appropriate format
- Make data accessible to relevant stakeholders through Google Sheets or Looker Studio or on the platform dashboard reports
- Focusing in managing, producing and visual creation of the data for departments Academic, HR, Finance, Admissions, Marketing etc (eg. enrollment trends, market analysis, comparison of data etc)
- Supporting the stakeholders in strategic decisions using the data sources by providing data insights on trends, comparison and market analysis
Early Years, Primary and Secondary Timetable:
- Collaborate with vice principals and the IT department to build the primary and secondary timetable and make structural changes as needed throughout the academic year
- Liaise with the timetable software provider for support and help with problem solving
- Coordinate a data calendar to support regular review cycles
- Setup Web Preferences to gather student’s subject choices for the next school year
- Coordinate with VPs to calculate accurate teaching loads and duty schedules
- Optimise timetable for all academic staff to maintain fairness
Student Support
- Maintain SWELL student information dashboards and Tier 1, 2 and 3 monitoring tracking while also supporting processes to streamline data entry
- Maintain ELL student information dashboards
- Advise SWELL and ELL admin support on best practices for bulk student reporting and parent contacts
- Create and maintain a system for tracking ELL, Learning Support and Caregiver students’ data between admissions and the SWELL and ELL departments to optimise student placement and staffing
Other Responsibilities:
- Stay current on the latest data analytics trends and technologies in education.
- Collaborate with other departments and teams to ensure data-driven decision-making is integrated across the school.
- Promote a data-driven culture within the school community.
- Ensure compliance on data protection with the data source.
Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree in data science, statistics, education, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in data analysis, preferably in an education setting.
- Strong analytical skills and experience working with various data sources and tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Looker, Looker Studio, Tableau, Power BI).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for diverse audiences.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively.
