Job Description

The Department of Philosophy at the National University of Singapore invites applications for an open-rank tenure-track or tenured appointment. Philosophers of all research specialties are encouraged to apply. Applicants should submit a CV, writing sample, and 3 letters of recommendation. Additional letters of recommendation and a cover letter are optional.


The department has a history of fruitful interaction between philosophers from a diverse range of traditions, and invites candidates from all areas of philosophy to apply. The department offers undergraduate, masters, and doctoral degrees. The teaching load is 2:1 (one or two courses per semester, totaling three per academic year). Teaching duties begin in August 2024. All instruction is in English. Salaries are internationally competitive and housing benefits are offered. Substantial funding for research and conference travel is provided.

Qualifications

  • A PhD in philosophy (either already completed or to be conferred by the position start date).
  • Potential for excellence in philosophy research, as evidenced by quality of writing sample and publication record in leading philosophy journals.
  • Potential for excellence in philosophy teaching.
