Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate occupational therapy and related service delivery to residents.
- Maintain accurate documentation of therapy service as required by the Company’s quality procedures and guidelines.
- Participate and conduct orientation and in-service education and training programmes and supervise staff under his / her charge as required.
- Participate in any and all activities related to the smooth running of department.
Areas of Accountability
1. Clinical
- Assess and identify individual needs of resident and formulate / develop and implement appropriate individualized physiotherapy programs. These would aim to facilitate, restore, improve or maintain movement and functional abilities.
- Treat patients with neurological, cardiopulmonary and orthopedic condition in the inpatient, outpatient setting or home rehabilitation.
- Evaluate and document residents' physiotherapy needs and progress at regular intervals, monitor training programs and review their effectiveness.
- Constantly update about residents' progress to care- givers and all those involved in the rehabilitation team.
- Provide care- giver training in patient handling and home exercise program.
- Refer residents to the respective specialists for consultation and appropriate intervention.
- Evaluate and prescribe appropriate rehabilitation aids as required by residents.
- Supervise daily routine and on-the-job training for physiotherapy support staff.
- Provide consultation and support to caregivers and allied health professional regarding residents' status and physiotherapy related matters.
- Provide consultation to other rehabilitation team on patient handling or matters regarding musculoskeletal injury.
2. Administrative and Management Practice
- Maintain efficient records of clientele and proper documentation.
- Engage in administrative duties relevant to departmental work and responsibility as duly delegated. E.g., Patient billing, maintain workload statistics, maintain patient education corner, maintain physiotherapy resources, maintain filing, maintain general cleanliness of department, maintain pantry food and beverage and other duties as delegated by senior staff/ DIC.
- Attend relevant meetings and give necessary suggestions / feedback.
- Undertake responsibility and duties assigned by supervisor from time to time.
- Maintain all therapy equipment by regular servicing and replace / repair when deemed necessary.
- Keep proper inventory of all equipment and fixtures with regular updating.
- Keep proper inventory of sales product regularly.
3. Staff Development / Education
- Keep abreast with latest development in physiotherapy related areas by reading journals and surf the website.
- Attend courses on physiotherapy related areas.
- Participate in research projects.
- Conduct in-service on physiotherapy related areas for peers.
- Provide clinical education and supervision for physiotherapy student and allied health trainee on attachment.
4. Occupational Health and Safety
- Maintain safe work practices and ensure a safe working environment which meets required standards.
- Familiar with all aspects of the nursing home emergency and evacuation procedures and guidelines
5. Quality Assurance
- Participate in departmental quality procedures and guidelines and policy reviews when required. E.g. new ideas to improve clinical services, operation or administrative procedures, patient education pamphlets, education corner or new services, etc.
- Ensure compliance to the Company’s quality procedures, guidelines and policy. Monitor and report on non-compliance and implement necessary changes resulting from quality assurance findings in consultation with the Rehab Manager / DIC.
Requirements
- Diploma / Bachelor of Physiotherapy
- Minimum 3 years of local clinical experience in Singapore
- Full Registration (AHPC - Singapore)
- Knowledge in MS Word / Excel (basics)
- Good communication skills
