- Help define the technology roadmap and standards for database technologies covering traditional RDBMSs as well as modern NoSQL / specialized databases
- Implement and maintain full operational lifecycle procedures from deployment to maintenance/patching, backup/recovery, and deco mm using extensive automation
- Provide 24x7 operational support of database systems with responsibility for uptime, overall system performance, identifying root causes, and implementing improvements to avoid recurrence
- Perform security compliance activities, e.g. security reviews, implementing security controls, logging, etc.
- Provide end-to-end support and advisory including support required by application developers
- Any relevant ad-hoc duties
Requirements
- Possess a degree in Information Technology or related fields with good experience in multiple data or database-centric roles
- Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience as a Database Administrator.
- Strong understanding of database concepts covering primary MySQL and secondary Microsoft SQL servers.
- Experience is required in the following areas: Strong understanding of operational processes and automation
Shell scripting, ideally using Python
Performance, capacity planning and database/query tuning. - The ideal candidate will have:Experience working with Continuous Integration and Delivery and how it impacts persistent data tiers
Experience working with other infrastructure teams / technologies
Demonstrable experience supporting critical database infrastructure - Strong logical and analytical skills with the proven ability to learn new subjects quickly
