Laboratory Technician

Nature and Scope

  • The job holder is the Quality Control Laboratory Chemist who reports directly to QA/QC Supervisor.
  • The job holder will be working at Senoko, Singapore in performing Quality Control operation related tasks. Occasionally, the job holder may be required to attend external QC works at Sakra hydrogen plant or customer’s premises.
  • The job holder must have high standard of safety and environmental awareness. A team player with effective communication skills and customer oriented. Shall demonstrate an on-going willingness to learn by keeping abreast of new developments in gases and chemical industries and to effectively execute tasks within the expected timeframe, and maintain good attendance and housekeeping practices.
  • The major challenge of the job is to maintain and ensure finished products meet the required specification, assist in attending assigned complaint notification as an Investigator, and to ensure reliability of the Quality Control which is necessary to enable & assist the company to retain its present customers and acquire new business.
  • The job holder must assist in Quality Control or Quality Assurance Improvement Imitative projects to maintain ISO compliance.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Comply strictly to all Singapore safety regulations and internal company safety policies.
  • Actively participate and contribute to the EHS Program in Basic Safety Process, Job Safety Analysis, Near Miss and Adaptive Preventive Techniques reporting for the department to achieve Safety KPI.
  • Comply with Management of Change work process and implement changes as per engineering and EHS standards.
  • Implement good manufacturing operations and positive attitude towards contributing in success of departmental goals.
  • Ensure that all QC required finished products being tested and inspected in accordance to operation manual & procedures, and compliance to ISO standards
  • Participate, assist, and/or lead Quality Control or Quality Assurance Improvement Imitative projects to maintain ISO compliance.
  • Participate and assist in any internal audits and other quality control or quality assurance activities.
  • Responsible for Quality Control in finished / trading products (Pure Straight Gases / Diving Products / Specialty Gas Mixtures). Proper segregation of finished products cylinders according to planning for order and stock.
  • Ensure all QC jobs are finished within the guaranteed lead-time. Should there be problem meeting the deadlines, She/he should inform the laboratory supervisor who will further relay the delay information to the respective affected departments (i.e. Sales, Customer Service, Inventory, Distribution/Logistics).
  • If there is any product analysis failure, the job holder shall communicate with the supervisor in determining proper corrective action to be taken. Approval is required from supervisor to reclassify product to a lower grade and to ensure the newly downgraded material is properly captured in the system.
  • Participate, assist, and/or lead customer complaint resolution. Investigate customer complaints and non-conformance issues. Collect and compile statistical quality data. Analyze data to identify areas for improvement in the quality system. As part of the investigation identify root cause(s), propose corrective action and preventative actions. Implement that necessary corrective and preventative actions and monitor the results to prevent recurrence.
  • Participate, execute, and/or lead continuous improvement projects to improve quality performance and optimize operating costs. Provide feedback and suggest improvements to improve testing accuracy as necessary.
  • Communicate and collaborate with coworkers as well as Production personnel to seek ways to improving product quality and increase efficiency.
  • Implement “best practices” where applicable.
  • Maintain proper inspection/verification/calibration/other records as per company documentation requirements
  • Ensure and maintain laboratory instrumentation in good operating mode.
  • Maintain daily clean desktop policy in QC related tasks, as well as in QC transactions in SAP.
  • Maintain analytical required stock / raw material / standard gas in updated condition.
  • Ensure training requirements are completed in a timely manner and trainings records are up to date.
  • Ensure good housekeeping is maintained.
  • Perform duties and tasks as directed by the supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Diploma in Chemical /Chemical Process Technology or Science related equivalent background.
  • Preferably 1-2 years’ experience in a Gas/Chemical Industry. Fresh graduates are welcomed.
  • Special skills, knowledge and techniques in analytical, and operating laboratory instrumentation (i.e. gas chromatograph experience is preferred)
  • Must be hands-on, attentive to details, good organizational skills and possess good troubleshooting skills
  • Able to act and make sound decision independently.
  • Good communication skills, good verbal and written English
  • Basic MS Windows Office and SAP knowledge.
