The School Counsellor works closely with the school management and the Career Opportunities & Guidance (COG) Director in planning and implementing a school-wide higher education and career guidance system.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide professional and full-time support to students in their universities and scholarship applications.
- Set up and implement processes to facilitate current students and graduates in university and scholarship applications.
- Actively listening to students’ future concerns and help students towards a deeper understanding of their concerns and challenging any inconsistencies in what they say or do.
- Devise and deliver specialised higher education and career programmes for example the ACSI Higher Education & Careers Day and the ONE ACS Career Forum.
- Identify, organize and conduct relevant talks, workshops and training for students and teachers, as well as coordinate developmental programmes and needs assessment for students.
- Plan, organise and review specific enrichment programmes and bridging courses for the holistic development of students.
- Collaborate with external and overseas education institutions i.e. universities on talks and programmes for the students and teachers.
- Develop systems to effectively track enrolment of graduate students into university acceptance and their career choice.
- Any other projects or duties as assigned by the Senior Administration.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong team player
- Ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure and meet deadlines
- Proficient computer skills (in particular, Excel)
- At least two years of full-time working experience in education counselling
- Knowledge of the local education system in the US will be an advantage
- Should hold a university degree. Those without a degree and with relevant experience/expertise may also apply
