DESKTOP SUPPORT SPECIALIST

Purpose of Position

We are seeking a skilled Desktop Support Specialist to join our dynamic banking IT team. As a Desktop Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of desktop systems, providing technical assistance to end-users, and maintaining the overall stability of the banking desktop environment.


Key Responsibilities

1. Desktop Support:

  • Provide first-level technical support for desktop hardware, software, and peripherals.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to desktop systems, including hardware failures, software malfunctions, and connectivity problems.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade desktop systems and software applications.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of desktop systems with overall banking infrastructure.

2. User Assistance:

  • Assist end-users with technical issues, providing clear and effective instructions.
  • Conduct training sessions for users on common desktop applications and best practices.
  • Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction through timely and effective support.

3. System Monitoring and Maintenance:

  • Monitor desktop systems to identify and address potential issues proactively.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including system updates, patches, and security enhancements.
  • Implement and enforce security protocols to safeguard desktop systems and sensitive data.

4. Documentation:

  • Create and maintain documentation for desktop procedures, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge base articles.
  • Keep track of hardware and software inventory, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.

5. Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with other IT support teams to escalate and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors for hardware and software procurement and support.

6. Compliance and Security:

  • Ensure compliance with banking industry regulations and security standards.
  • Implement and enforce security policies to protect desktop systems and sensitive financial data.


Requirements

  • Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in desktop support roles, preferably in the banking or financial industry.
  • Strong knowledge of desktop operating systems (Windows) and common business applications.
  • Familiarity with banking software and systems is a plus.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
