Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the cost-effective maintenance of LNG vessels and their equipment to ensure safe, delay-free operation and compliance with the flag state administration and applicable class and industrial standards.
- Monitor and maintain vessel deck and engine planned maintenance system.
- Monitor and arrange statutory and classification surveys for vessels.
- Coordinate the supply of stores, supplies, spares, and consumables.
- Coordinate the repairs, defect rectifications, and modifications.
- Monitor adherence to company standards and charterer requirements.
- Assist in controlling and monitoring costs relevant to the technical department.
- Maintain and upkeep technical manuals, drawings, and catalogs from makers and yards.
- Attend shipyard and classification societies in technical matters.
- Verify documentation and certifications of new buildings/deliveries.
- Lead the accident/incident investigation related to technical matters such as equipment and failure/malfunction if required.
- Carry out annual vessel technical inspection/audit onboard as scheduled.
- Assist the Group Technical manager in the running of the technical department.
- Execution of additional project-specific technical requirements promptly
- Execute technical modifications for the project, including their approval and certifications as necessary.
- Attend to technical troubles arising during the project and liaise with the makers if required.
- Plan and coordinate technical repairs during the project, including vessel docking as necessary.
- Ensure any defects that may affect the charter are resolved promptly.
- Participate in interviews and makes recommendations regarding new-hires and promotions.
- Monitor vessel performance and ensure follow up action.
- Management of vessel budgets and operating expenditure
- Plan for, monitor, and manage dry-dockings and major scheduled and unscheduled repairs.
- Conduct regular vessel visits to confirm condition and compliance with Company operating standards and provide Vessel Condition Reports.
- Create a partnership with the other departments (HSQE, crewing, operations, etc.) assigned to the same vessels.
Qualifications:
- Experience for more than 3 years of sea service, including a senior marine engineer at least one time, and one year experience LNG carrier with 10,000 Kw above of propulsion output, also large LPG or more than aframax Oil tanker experience or 6 months experience as Chief Engineer preferable.
- Valid Engine COC holder
- Knowledge of ISM, EMS,PMS, Repairs and Dry-Docking repairs
- Good technical knowledge about various marine machinery
- A desire to drive continuous improvement in self and with others.
- Analytical, problem solving, time management, project management and decision-making skills
- Ability to respond positively to Company management in an effective manner
- Demonstrates teamwork, interpersonal and communications skills
- Knowledge of propulsion plant and power systems onboard assigned vessels. Steam turbine plant and XDF vessel experience highly preferred.
- Knowledge of cargo containment system, cargo handling equipment and systems on board assigned vessels.
