A*STAR Infectious Diseases Labs (A*STAR ID Labs) is seeking for a Research Officer to join us in our mission to be a leading centre of infectious diseases research. A*STAR ID Labs aims to develop a cohesive A*STAR response to drive and deliver translational infectious diseases research to better health and economic outcomes.
The laboratory of Antimicrobial Resistance and Drug Development in A*STAR ID Labs is looking for a highly self-motivated individual to join us as a Research Officer. Our lab is interested in developing new screening assays for drug discovery and early-stage antimicrobial drug development. Lab has extensive experience working with various pathogens (bacteria, virus and parasites).
The job responsibilities include:
- Bacterial and viral assay development and assay optimization
- Compound screening
- Target deconvolution (understanding mechanisms of action and resistance of selected compounds)
- Design and conduct experiments including data collection and analysis
- Summarize and present the data in lab meetings
- Develop new research techniques and approaches
- Collaborative spirit with internal and external collaborators
- Perform maintenance of inventory and procurement of laboratory consumables
- Ensure safe technical practices and procedures
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree in Life Sciences/Biomedical Sciences, Microbiology, Molecular Biology or related field
- 5 years of relevant experience or candidates with relevant final year project expereince
- Highly motivated and able to work independently
- Adaptable to working with different organisms (bacteria or viruses)
- Team player with good interpersonal skills
- Good spoken and written communication skills
- Possible work in a BSL3 facility
