Research Associate, Animal Sciences

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Research Associate, Animal Sciences to join the Animal Sciences Pharmacology team. The job function includes testing and optimizing of novel antibody therapies in various animal models. It is an exceptional opportunity to translate basic discoveries to the clinic. This will be a permanent role for the right candidate with ample opportunity to grow within the company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform duties in accordance with animal welfare regulations, Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC), and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) guidelines
- Support team of scientists via meticulous execution of planned studies in a timely manner
- Handling animals with proficiency using species-specific techniques
- Perform routine laboratory research activities such as: daily observations of animal health, collection of biological specimens from animals for testing upon requests of scientific team
- Perform advanced laboratory research activities on variety of animal species such as: obtaining blood, bone marrow, and tissue samples, immunization, administration of pharmaceuticals, anaesthesia and euthanasia
- Compile and analyze research data using various relevant software (Prism-GraphPad; MS Office)
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma or Degree in Life Sciences
- Minimum 1-year relevant experience in working with laboratory animals
- Responsible Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (RCULA) certified
- Experience with cell-and patient-derived xenograft models, tail bleeds, subcutaneous & intraperitoneal injections, tumor measurements, oral gavage, cardiac perfusions, dissections, immunogen preparation
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
- Proficient in MS Office
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with multiple animal models, including mice and rats is preferable
- Experience with PK and toxicity studies is preferable
- Proven ability to work on multiple projects at once
- Proven ability to independently manage work
- Willing to work over weekends when necessary (on overtime pay)
- Experience with Prism - GraphPad is a plus
