Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Operator for bulk carriers managed commercially by clients engaged in voyage charter/time charter/COA etc.
- Issuing voyage instructions to Master
- Liaising directly with the ships and the charterers
- Issuing and following up on payment of freight invoices / hire invoices to charterers
- Coordinating closely with Laytime Pic for Laytime matters and ensuring timely settlement of Laytime / Final Freight.
- Maintaining separate voyage accounts for each vessel
- Overseeing day-to-day commercial operations of ships
- Appointing and dealing with agents and inspectors on a regular basis
- Assisting in the settlement of disputes with charterers
- Maintaining a record of off-hire and ensuring that downtime is minimized at all times
- Checking voyage bunker requirement and co ordinating with Bunker pic for timely and competitive purchase of Bunkers.
- Monitoring ship’s speed and consumption and vessel maintaining performance records. Highlighting under-performance to Weather routing company / Commercial Team and ensuring that necessary steps are taken to rectify any under-performance
- Ensuring that ships are being operated as per CP
- Maintaining proper voyage records
- Preparing monthly/weekly reports as required
- Making sure to work and comply with the fulfillment of Standard KPIs
- Be creative and take active participation in Ops projects from time to time
- Ensure to use of the support system / Tech tools to Ops efficiency
Requirement
- University degree in Logistics or related discipline
- At least 8 year’s working experience in the shipping industry in operations, additional experience in other related commercial shipping will be preferable
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Good command of spoken and written English
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to accept new challenges
- Flexibility and ability to adapt and learn
